Barbara M. Dodge, 72, Lewiston

Barbara May Neff Dodge, 72, passed away from lung cancer at Tri-State Memorial Hospital the morning of Friday, July 20, 2007.

Barbara was born June 18, 1935, to Everett William Neff and Lois Leone Wilson Neff in Cripple Creek, Colo. The Neff family moved to Mullan, Idaho, in 1948, where Barbara graduated with the Class of 1953 from Mullan High School.

Barbara attended one year of college in California before marrying Ronald Wayne Dodge of Mullan, Oct. 1, 1955. They started their family in Mullan and had four children before moving to Lewiston in the summer of 1967, where they had a fifth child. After three years, they moved the family to the Orchards, where they have lived for 37 years.

Barbara worked for several companies throughout her life until she eventually retired after 15 years from the Lewiston Golf and Country Club.

Her avocations included oil painting, toll painting, macrame (when that was cool), and lately, computing and photo editing. She was an expert seamstress and made many garments for her family and friends, as well as for school and church plays. She loved gardening and arranging flowers and even made silk flower arrangements. But her most consuming passion was urging the Seattle Mariners in their quest each year for the World Series. She was very active in her church and held many positions in the church leadership.

Barbara, who is survived by her husband Ron, was a devoted mother and raised five children who all survive her, Donna Weger and husband Mike of Headquarters, Idaho, Ron Dodge, Jr. and wife Terri of Dallas, Ore., Diana Wright and husband Doug of Wasilla, Alaska, Scott Dodge and wife Janet, and Mike Dodge and wife Nikki, all of Nampa. Barbara was an indulgent grandmother of 10 grandchildren, and had two great-grandchildren, as well. Her surviving siblings include, Patricia Anne Marshall of Clarkston, William E. (Bill) Neff of Mineola, Texas, Walter J. (Walt) Neff of Pinehurst, Idaho, and Kathleen W. Neff of Lewiston.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a baby brother, Glen Neff.

Memorial Services for Barbara will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lewiston.

Memorials are asked to be directed to the American Cancer Society.
